Cargill announced Friday that it plans to sell it’s cattle feed yards in Dalhart and Bovina to Friona Industries.

The terms of the sale were not released, and the transaction will not be complete until final agreements and regulatory reviews are completed, according to information released by the company last week. Cargill will retain the feed yards in Yuma, Colo., and Letoi, Kans. Cargill states the employees currently at the at Dalhart and Bovina feed yards will be offered positions with Friona Industries.

"Selling our feed yards in the Texas panhandle allows us to redeploy many tens of millions of dollars annually into investments that will help us grow our protein business – money that otherwise would have been tied up as working capital used to purchase and feed cattle,” John Keating, president of Cargill’s Wichita-based beef business, said in a released statement Friday.
