ArchivesDalhart city corrects listing of mayor, council candidatesBy ZELDA BETH LANG The listing of candidates for the upcoming City of Dalhart elections were incorrectly stated in the February 21 edition of The Dalhart Texan. Dalhart city secretary Frances Childers said late Friday afternoon that the candidates were incorrectly reported to The Dalhart Texan after the filing period closed February 17. It was initially reported that Shane Martinez was running for the position of council member in Ward One. That position is currently held by Rusty Hancock, who filed for re-election. However, Martinez is actually running for mayor. He will be running against current Mayor Phillip Hass. Hancock will not have an opponent in the election.
