Approximately 150 students will receive their high school diplomas in graduation ceremonies to be held across Dallam and Hartley Counties later this week. While the majority of those students will receive their diplomas after four years of a traditional high school experience, 17 of those students are graduating high school after completing Dalhart’s alternative high school program, XIT Secondary School.

A Dallam County Grand Jury handed down multiple indictments Thursday morning, May 21. According to District Attorney David Green’s office, eight individuals were charged.

Local residents have seen an exceptionally wet spring so far due to high levels of rainfall. According to the National Weather Service in Amarillo, since January 1, Dalhart has received more than six inches of rain as of Friday. The normal average for the Dalhart area is 4.6 inches.

Dalhart Independent School District has announced their new hires, resignations and retirees. There have been 27 currently district employees who have submitted their resignations, and the school board has approved 11 new hires thus far for the next school year.
