United Way Presents Donations to Girl Scouts
The Dallam-Hartley Counties United Way is presented a check to The Girl Scouts of Texas-Oklahoma Plains from their 2015/2016 fund raising campaign. The local United Way works gathers donations from individuals and businesses all year to be able to donate it right back to different organizations that are a big part of helping the community. A total of 95 percent of all funds remain in Dallam and Hartley Counties.

Highway Construction Projects Begin

Along with related highway projects, lane closures are expected over the next several months on Highway 87 through Dalhart. The Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce annual gala is scheduled for Friday, April 1, at the Rita Blanca Coliseum. The Dalhart Chamber has invited Jerry Traylor to be the featured speaker this year. Traylor has a real world message and has climbed to the top of 14,110-foot Pikes Peak three times, competed in 35 full-length marathons and jogged 3,528 miles across America, from San Francisco to New York City – all on crutches. >> More
Fatality Reported On Highway 54By IVY HOLLINGSWORTH
A semi rollover that resulted in a fatality was reported early Saturday morning east of Dalhart on Highway 54. According to a statement from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Cindy Barkley, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Donovan Ross, 29, of Jacksonville, Fla., was driving a 2016 Freightliner Truck Tractor towing a 2008 Wabash trailer Northeast on US highway 54 approximately 13 miles southwest of Dalhart. >> More
Hartley Commissioners Designate Coliseum As Alternate CourtroomBy ZELDA BETH LANG The Hartley County Commissioners met at 8:30 Monday morning, March 14, for their regular meeting. The commissioners decided to designate Rita Blanca Coliseum as an alternate courtroom. Considering courthouse maintenance was tabled. At 10 a.m., they opened bids for the county depository. The Dahart City Council held two public hearings Tuesday night, March 8, to determine conditions described as unsafe and dangerous on property located at 618 Cammack and 1113 Omaha. Resolution 2016-03 was on Cammack, and Resolution 2016-04 on Omaha. No one was present from either locations, and the public hearings were closed. >> More
