People’s Church, Dalhart honored by Operation Christmas Child
An Operation Christmas Child delegation came to People’s Church in Dalhart on Sunday August 16 to present the church and its members with a 15-Year service award. Since 1993, nationally & internationally, Operation Christmas Child has worked to send gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world. Along with the shoeboxes, Operation Christmas Child presents the children with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
People’s Church has had the responsibility and the honor of hosting the Dalhart Area Collection Center for all those years, and even more unofficially before that. This award really belongs to all the Dalhart area churches and volunteers that pack shoeboxes, help man the Collection Center and the packing area. This center could not make it without everyone who has been such great help over the years.
Operation Christmas Child collects shoeboxes filled with gifts during one week in November, usually right around Thanksgiving. Information about the exact dates for this year’s collection will be coming soon.
