Gordon, Diaz, Crabtree win DISD school board election

 BY BILL KELLY

The Dalhart ISD held its annual election for members of the Board of Trustees on Saturday May 2, with three different positions open on the board and four different people running for one of those three positions. Jared Gordon and Eric Diaz were reelected to their positions on the board, and Reyna Crabtree was also elected to a position on the board.

The positions held by Gordon and Diaz, and a position held by Maegan Frische, were up for election this year. Frische didn’t put her name back on the ballot, so Gordon and Diaz were running for reelection, and Crabtree and Sheldon Keeton also registered as candidates. Since the positions are all considered at-large, the three candidates receiving the most votes were elected.

Gordon received the most votes with a total of 156. Diaz received 143 votes, Crabtree received 111 votes, and Keeton received 47 votes. Gordon, Diaz and Crabtree were the winners since they were the three candidates with the most votes.

The board of trustees is scheduled to have a special meeting today, Thursday May 7, at 7:30 a.m. to officially canvas the results. Once the results are official, the oath of office will be given to the newly elected trustees.
