ArchivesEarly voting starts in DISD electionEarly voting starts in DISD electionBY BILL KELLY While the election for Dalhart city council was canceled since each position only had a single candidate, the election for three positions on the Dalhart ISD Board of Trustees is being held as scheduled, with four candidates running for the three positions. The positions currently held by Eric Diaz, Jared Gordon and Maegan Frische are up for election this year. Diaz and Gordon both filed to run for reelection, but Frische is not on the ballot this time. They are being joined on the ballot by Rayna Crabtree, who also ran a year ago, and Sheldon Keeton. Since the seats are all at-large, the three candidates who receive the most votes will be elected. Early voting for the election started on Monday April 20 and will continue until Wednesday April 28. The election itself will be held on Saturday May 2. Votes will canvassed at the next available school board meeting, at which time those elected will take office officially and the board will reorganize, electing new officers.
