St. Anthony students advance to State in academic competition

Students from St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School attended the Private School Interscholastic Association (PSIA) competition held at Christ the King Catholic School in Lubbock on Saturday March 7.
Of the 11 participants (with some competing in more than one event), five students qualified for State, with two qualifying in more than one event. One of those five is also an alternate in a different competition. Six other students are alternates to State. The students who qualified for State will travel to San Marcos to compete in the PSIA State Meet on April 18.
Henry Allen placed second in first grade Creative Writing, which makes him first alternate to State. In second grade Storytelling, Stella Webb placed second, which also makes her a first alternate to State. Rohnan Mariscal placed third in second grade Number Sense, which makes him an alternate to State.
Gianna Faria placed second in third grade Spelling, and is a State qualifier. Faria also won first place in third grade Ready Writing to qualify for State, Tori Pollard qualified for State by placing second, and Sylvie Mobley placed third, which makes her an alternate to State.
Miles Bezner placed second in third grade Number Sense to qualify for State. William Allen placed second in third grade Math and Jasper Webb placed third. William Allen is first alternate and Webb is second alternate to State.
Liam Keeton placed second in fourth and fifth grade Art Memory, making him a State qualifier. He also placed third in fourth grade Math, and so is an alternate to State in that contest.
Anna Pollard qualified for State in two different contests. She placed second in both fifth grade Number Sense and fifth grade Spelling.
St. Anthony’s is proud of all the students who participated and represented St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School with dedication and academic excellence.
