
DHS automotive students compete at Skills USA
3 advance to state competition
Last month, students from the DHS automotive class took part in the 2026 Skills USA Texas Leadership & Skills Conference contest for District 3. The contest was held in Amarillo on Friday February 13 and Saturday February 14.
Six different students competed in a variety of contests. Ladainian Garcia competed in Automotive Service Technology, Job Interview, Related Technical Math, and Engine Project. Tell Atha competed in Aviation Maintenance and Motorcycle Project, and Legend Robertson competed in Motorcycle Maintenance and Project.
Mila Garcia competed in Job Interview, Customer Service, and Light Maintenance and Repair. Lizeth Duarte competed in Customer Service and Job Interview, and Tyler French competed in Customer Service, Job Interview, Automotive Tool Identification and Light Maintenance and Repair.
Three of the six students advanced to the Skills USA state contest, which will be held in Corpus Christi in April. Tell Atha won a Gold Medal in Aviation Maintenance. Legend Robertson won a Gold Medal in Motorcycle Maintenance, and Ladainian Garcia won a Silver Medal in Related Technical Math.
The team wanted to express a special thanks to Texas Panhandle Tarps for sponsoring shirts for the district contest. Congratulations to all the students who competed and represented Dalhart High School, and good luck to those who will compete at the state contest next month.
