A closer look inside Coon Memorial Nursing Home

The Dallam-Hartley Counties Hospital District invites the Dalhart community to attend upcoming guided tours of Coon Memorial Nursing Home this coming Sunday, January 18, and also Sunday, January 25, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

These tours are designed to give the public a firsthand look at the current conditions of the nursing home and help explain why building a new facility is so important for local seniors and the future of healthcare in the community. Tours are not come-and-go and will begin promptly at 1:30 p.m. each day.

While residents receive compassionate, high-quality care from dedicated staff, the nursing home building itself is aging and no longer meets modern standards for safety, comfort, and dignity. During the tour, visitors will see challenges such as aging infrastructure, limited natural light, low ceilings, cracked flooring, worn finishes, and tight spaces that restrict mobility and privacy.

Plans for a new Nursing Home are already underway, thanks in part to a generous $10 million pledge from Louise and Gene Rahll. The project also relies on strong community support, as the nursing home plays a vital role in the long-term sustainability of rural healthcare services in Dalhart and the surrounding area.

Community members are encouraged to attend a tour, learn more about the need for the new facility, and help spread the word. To reserve a spot, call 806-244- 8555 or message the hospital district on Facebook. The Dallam-Hartley Counties Hospital District hopes to see many community members there
