Community raises funds for La Rita Theatre
A fundraiser was held for the La Rita Theatre at the Dalhart Elks Lodge on Saturday November 1. The fundraiser raised money by selling tickets for $50 per couple for a meal, which was available for either dine-in or carryout. There was also a silent auction and a live auction, with a number of items bringing several thousand dollars each during the live auction.
The La Rita Theatre Board of Directors released the following statement in gratitude for the efforts that were made to help the theatre:
“The La Rita Theatre Board of Directors extends our heartfelt gratitude and sincere thanks to the entire Dalhart community. From the fantastic meal and entertainment to the wonderful silent and live auction items, the fundraiser on November 1 was such a positive display of unity and support.
Your overwhelming response helps us immensely as we navigate the financial recovery needed to preserve the La Rita Theatre for future generations. We are truly blessed to be part of a community that believes, as we do, in this theatre’s mission.
We also want to specifically thank Tyler Carnesecca and the XIT Directors, Kristy Detwiler and the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce, and Dalhart Elks Lodge—all of whom went above and beyond to pull off this spectacular event and deserve recognition for their efforts.
Thank you all for being the foundation of La Rita’s next chapter and helping to ensure that the show goes on!”
