Victoria Terrazas, Pierre Valencia win XIT 5K
The 48th Annual XIT 1-mile Fun Run and 5K run took place on the Dalhart Rita Blanca trails on August 9, the final day of the XIT Rodeo and Reunion. Sponsored by the Dallam- Hartley County Hospital Foundation, the run raised approximately $4,000 for the fund to construct a new nursing home in Dalhart.
For the first time, the trail run utilized chip timing, so the runners had their results immediately emailed to them, and the race organizers were able to get medals to the runners in time for all runners to attend the XIT parade.
The overall winner of the 5K in the male division was former Dalhart cross-country standout, Pierre Valencia of Amarillo, with a time of 20 minutes 9 seconds. The overall women’s winner was Victoria Terrazas with a time of 22 minutes 9 seconds. Terrazas is a senior on the Dalhart Lady Wolves cross country team, and was a member of the team that won third place at State last year. She has been named to the TGCA All-State team in Class 3A twice, her freshman year and last year.
Terrazas was also the overall winner in the female division of the 1-mile run with a time of 6 minutes 39 seconds. Baiden Beavers, who is a sophomore on this year’s Dalhart boys cross country team, was the overall winner in the 1-mile male division with a time of 6 minutes 6 seconds.
In the female 1-mile run, 9-and-under division, Beckett Wiley won first place with a time of 7 minutes 58 seconds and Reni Huaracha placed second at 11 minutes 4 seconds. In the 10-13 division, Austyn DeMots won first place at 9 minutes 43 seconds. In the 14- 19 division, Terrazas won first place, Hallie Luley placed second at 7 minutes 32 seconds, and Vianney Dominguez placed third at 7 minutes 39 seconds.
In the female 20-29 division, Julieth Ortiz won first place at 10 minutes 19 seconds and Ally Allen placed second at 19 minutes even. In the 30-39 division, Callie Wiley won first place with a time of 7 minutes 2 seconds, Katie Allen placed second at 11 minutes 59 seconds, and Mary Knight placed third at 16 minutes 18 seconds.
In the female 40-49 division, Patty Rocco won first place at 8 minutes 33 seconds, Telma Nunez placed second at 8 minutes 50 seconds, and Stephanie Vogel placed third at 9 minutes 5 seconds. In the 50-59 division, Lorie Beckner won first place at 8 minutes 12 seconds and Paige Davis placed second at 19 minutes 36 seconds. In the 60-69 division, Christi Turner won first place at 16 minutes 16 seconds and Joyce Bezner placed second at 19 minutes 36 seconds.
Other 1 mile results: In the male division for 9-and-under, William Allen won first place at 8 minutes 55 seconds, Shepard Schniederjan placed seconds at 9 minutes 22 seconds, and Henry Allen placed third at 12 minutes 19 seconds. Beavers won first place in the 14-19 division as well as winning the overall championship, and was the only runner in that division.
In the male 20-29 division, Diego Ortiz won first place at 10 minutes 20 seconds and Andres Rodriguez placed second (no time was given.) In the 30-39 division, Noah Schniederjan won first place at 9 minutes 25 seconds and John Knight placed second at 16 minutes 18 seconds. In the 50-59 division, Mario Raminez won first place at 8 minutes 5 seconds, Kurtis Abla placed second at 8 minutes 8 seconds, and Brian Luley placed third at 9 minutes 8 seconds. In the 60-and-over division, Daniel Brown won first place at 9 minutes 46 seconds, Emerson Knowls placed second at 11 minutes 38 seconds, and Phillip David placed third at 15 minutes 9 seconds.
In the 5K female 9-and-under division, Remi Finch won first place at 44 minutes 18 seconds. In the 10-13 division Janae Hokanson won first place at 26 minutes 30 seconds, Lily Hughes placed second at 29 minutes 33 seconds, and Reese Strebeck placed third at 31 minutes 51 seconds.
In the female 14-19 division of the 5K, Terrazas won first place, Sherlynn Herrera placed second with a time of 27 minutes 42 seconds and Kadence DeMots placed third at 30 minutes 38 seconds. In the 20-29 division, Makenzie Valdez won first place at 28 minutes 20 seconds, Hunter Diamond placed second at 28 minutes 37 seconds and Montserrat Martinez Najera placed third at 32 minutes 52 seconds. In the 30-39 division, Stefany Spielman won first place at 37 minutes 52 seconds and Staci Finch placed second at 44 minutes 14 seconds.
In the 40-49 division Patty Rocco won first place at 28 minutes 13 seconds, Telma Nunez placed second at 29 minutes 28 seconds and Suzette Meeker placed third at 29 minutes 55 seconds. In the 50-59 division, Lorie Beckner won first place at 29 minutes 46 seconds and Mento Pliego placed second at 44 minutes 43 seconds. In the 60-69 division, Kim Allen won first place at 33 minutes 37 seconds and Sara Sadler placed second at 64 minutes 7 seconds.
In the 5K male 9-andunder division, Yordi Perez won first place at 27 minutes 1 second, Francisco Rodriguez placed second at 45 minutes 39 seconds, and Valentine Calel placed third at 47 minutes 7 seconds. In the 10-13 division, Guillermo Delgado won first place at 23 minutes 39 seconds, Ismael Ildefonso placed second at 27 minutes even, and Abel Deleon placed third at 30 minutes 27 seconds.
In the male 14-19 division there was an extremely close race. Aiden Buck won first place at 21 minutes 1 second, Baiden Beavers was 20 seconds behind in second at 21 minutes 21 seconds, and Iris Cristal Madero placed third at 21 minutes 27 seconds, six seconds behind Beavers. In the 20-29 division, Valencia won first place, Ryan Walden placed second at 24 minutes 7 seconds, and Ben Allen placed third at 27 minutes 11 seconds.
In the 30-39 division, Holly Turner won first place at 22 minutes 19 seconds, Ashton Hunt placed second at 23 minutes 39 seconds, and Noah Schniederjan placed third at 24 minutes 1 second. In the 40-49 division, John Coffman won first place at 30 minutes 27 seconds, Ryan Strebeck placed second at 36 minutes 36 seconds, and T.J. Funderburg placed third at 47 minutes 51 seconds.
In the 50-59 division, Troy Valdez won first place at 28 minutes 10 seconds and Mario Ramirez placed second at 32 minutes 20 seconds. In the 60-69 division, Stanley Norman won first place at 30 minutes 6 seconds, Gary Thompson placed second at 30 minutes 27 seconds, and Daniel Brown placed third at 32 minutes 38 seconds.
