Synthia Howell New Director For Senior Center
April 21, 2000 – 25 years
Mrs. Synthia Howell is the new Executive Director for the Senior Citizens Center in Dalhart.
She will assume her new duties on May 1. Synthia was born in Dalhart. In 1972 she moved to Van Horn, TX. And attended schools there.
She moved back to Dalhart in 1981 and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1983.
Synthia attended Amarillo College for two and a half years, taking basic courses and bookkeeping courses.
She and Doug Howell were married in 1985. The lived in Amarillo, moving back to Dalhart in 1989.
Synthia and Doug have three children, Ryan, 11, Brody, 7 and Sabrah, 2 ½.
Doug and Synthia are The Tom’s Distributors for Dalhart and area. She has been keeping books for their Distributorship but she said will now be turning this over to Doug.
Synthia worked for Frontier Fuel for seven years, having various jobs and then into bookkeeping. She is currently helping Whitney Stengel in the Tea Room at the Courtyard.
Synthia is involved in PTA at Allyn Finch Intermediate School, a past officer of the Ex- Student Association. She is very active in their church, First Baptist Church. She is choir director for the first grade.
Other than her PTA and Church activities Synthia says she spend most of her time with her kids in their school and sports activities.
Synthia said she is excited and looking forward to her new position at the senior center. She is a very capable and caring lady and is not a stranger to being around seniors as she was very close to her grandparents, the late Bill and Estelle Cessnun.
