
Adrian & Texline HS Plays Share District UIL Honors
April 8, 1975 – 50 years
Adrian and Texline High Schools shared honors by being selected for winning plays of District 1-B in University Interscholastic League One-Act Play Contest last weekend, reports Mary Jo Ondracek. The Adrian play was The Box and Cox; and Texline, The Wood Shed.
The Hartley High School play, Death of the Hired Man, was selected as the alternate play, in the event that neither of the winning platys could perform in the area contest, Mrs. Ondracek said. The other school represented was Channing High School, with play, An American Family.
Selected on the All-Star Cast were: Dennis Brown, Adrian, best actor; Pennye Welborn, Hartley, best actress. Abd best supporting performers were: Janet McMahon and Mitch Pinell, Channing; Lanell Bryan and Tony Sidwell, Texline; Joyce Sifford, Adrian and Kevin Smith, Hartley.
Honorable mention went to Lisa Hunnicutt of Channing, Betty Williams of Texline and Chuck Durhan of Adrian.
Directors of the plays were: Miss Lanna Flanagan for Channing; Roland Cummings, Texline; Ross Coffey, Hartley; and Mrs. Susan Fortenbury, Adrian.
