Kinsey — and her calf — win again!
Kinsey Thomas, seventhgrade FFA member from Dalhart Junior High School, has done it again! She competed at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo on March 15 with her Shorthorn heifer, Myrtle, and won Shorthorn Senior Division Champion.
“This was just so amazing,” Kinsey said. “It was one of my dreams to win at Houston. I’m so happy that it came true!”
Next weekend, Kinsey and Myrtle, who is with calf, will travel to the Austin Stock Show and Rodeo, then they’ll hang up the bridle for a bit. Myrtle is due to calve on April 8.
On January 25 of this year, Kinsey won Reserve Champion Junior Division Female with DJC Alexis Pride 304L in the Shorthorn heifer division at the 2025 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.
In October 2023, she showed the Grand Champion Shorthorn Heifer at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas. Kinsey is the daughter of Kurtis and Ashley Thomas of Dalhart.
