Little Mr. and Miss Pageant deadline today
Believe it or not, summer will be here soon, and with it, the area’s biggest party – the annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion!
Today is already the deadline to enter one of the celebration’s first events, the XIT Little Mr. and Little Miss Pageant. Held each year to select the two youngest ambassadors for the festival, the pageant is open to the public and so much fun to watch!
It will be held March 22 at the La Rita Theatre, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Entrants must be between ages three and five. The child has to be five years old by March 22, 2025.
They must live within a 50-mile radius of Dalhart and agree to attend and represent XIT Rodeo & Reunion in these five parades (with places and dates subject to change):
• May 3, 2025 – Guymon, OK
• May 31, 2025 – Boise City, OK
• June 7, 2025 – Amarillo, TX
• June 14, 2025 – Dumas, TX
• July 4, 2025 – Canyon, TX or Clayton, NM or Red River, NM
• Aug. 7 – 9 – 89th Annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion
If winners move more than 50 miles from Dalhart, they forfeit their prizes.
Only the first 30 contestants – 15 boys and 15 girls – will be registered to compete. Entry deadline is 5:00 p.m. today. Entry forms are available by going online at xitrodeoreuntion.com and clicking on the “Forms” tab.
For the pageant, entrants should dress western, have a brief (approximate three minute) talent presentation prepared, and be ready to be interviewed.
Hannah Sanderson is the current XIT Little Miss, and Jade Causey is Little Mr. Hannah, the daughter of Nixie and Jeff Sanderson, sang “You Are My Sunshine” to win last year’s pageant. Jade, the son of Codi and Lindi Causey, roped a calf dummy and tied another down for his talent demonstration.
