ArchivesDPS seizes THC products during Oldham County traffic stopDPS seizes THC products during Oldham County traffic stopA Texas DPS Trooper seized more than 30 pounds of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the cannabinoid found in cannabis, and marijuana – including thousands of vape cartridges – during a traffic stop in Oldham County last week. At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 25, the Dept. of Public Safety officer stopped a 2023 Chrysler Pacifica driven by Gatlan Mitchell, 25, of Brackettville, TX, for an unnamed traffic violation as he was traveling east on I-40 near Vega. During the stop, according to the Trooper, the driver began displaying nervous behavior and there was a odor coming from the vehicle. A DPS canine was deployed; he alerted to multiple cardboard boxes in the rear of the vehicle. noticeable marijuana Inside the boxes, the Trooper found more than 5,700 THC vape cartridges, 30 jars of THC butter and 16 jars of green marijuana, equating to more than 25 pounds of THC oil, over 4 pounds of THC butter and 1 pound of green marijuana, respectively. The items were reportedly being transported from New Mexico to Texas. Mitchell was arrested and booked into the Oldham County Jail for the manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Both are felonies in the state of Texas.
