Spelling Bees At Junior High School

March 1, 2000 – 25 years

The Dallam County Spelling Bee will be held March 7, 2000, at 9:15 a.m. in the Dalhart Junior High Library. Dallam County Director Karen Towler will preside with Patty Harshey pronouncing the words. Sharon Wilson and Margaret Adamson will be the judges.

The Dalhart Junior High School Bee was held February 29, 2000, at 9:15 a.m. in the Dalhart Junior High Library. Champion was Cristin Day, eighth grader, with runner-up Jessica Gomez, a seventh grader. The sixth grade champion was Carl Sisco with runnerup Jennifer Alward. Justin Werner and Jessica Gomez were the champion and runnerup was Cory Hass. All of these students will participate in the Dallam County Spelling Bee.

The following sixth grade students also participated: Cynthia Smith, Mark Groen, Myka Grantham, Felicia Jones, and Rachel Donges. Other eighth graders in the bee were John Martinez, Luke Gallegos, Rayna Crawford, Mandi Hunter, Jake Frische, Denae Routon, Tanya Trujillo, Collin Cunningham, and Kevin Hobbiebrunken. Ten rounds were held with the winning words of playright and stewardess.
