Scanlon Daniels, who owns the local Circle H Headquarters veterinary practice, was awarded one of two prestigious 2024 Ostgaar- Breiner Memorial Scholarships on Oct. 25 during the 2024 American Hereford Association Annual Meeting and Conference in Kansas City, MO. Luke graduated from Dalhart High School in 2020 and from Oklahoma State University with a degree in Animal Science in 2024. While attending O.S.U., he was a member of the 2023 National Championship Livestock Judging Team. He is currently working toward his doctorate of veterinary medicine at the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine. He is also following in his parent’s career footsteps, hoping to operate a veterinary practice to serve a rural community. “Animal health and welfare is virtually all that I have ever known from a young age,” Luke said. “I did not understand then, though, that the veterinary medicine profession is extremely demanding, exasperating and difficult. I can tell you, that has not been significant enough to sway my decision to pursue my passion to help animals.” “My dad was also a vet, so he will be the third generation to do this,” Dr. Scanlon said. “The whole family is very proud of him.” For the full story SUBSCRIBE to the online edition of The Dalhart Texan, call (806) 244-4511 to setup a subscription to our physical paper or pick a copy up at one of our many convenient news rack locations.
