ROPES receives relocation renovation grant
ROPES Western and Casual Wear recently received a $10,000 incentive grant for renovation from the Dalhart Economic Development Corporation in conjunction with their move from downtown.
The clothing and accessories store was previously located at 224 Denrock, but the lack of available parking space was a problem, said owner Rita Chaparro.
“People would tell us, ‘I drove by your store, but there wasn’t any place to park.’,” she said. “A lot of our customers are cowboys, and they tend to drive big trucks and pull trailers, and parking those on Denrock was a real problem.”
Joe Livingston, EDC Director, helped resolve the issue by locating available retail space in the Maple Square Shopping Center. ROPES moved to 704 Maple Street, next to Cricket Wireless, on August 1.
ROPES is Dalhart’s one stop shop for all things in Western fashion, Chaparro said. “We carry big names like Wrangler, Cinch and Ariat, Lazy J, Lost Calf, Red Dirt and many more!”
“We also have tuxes all year round and can order many sizes from our vendor,” added assistant manager Laekyn Wagner. “And we have select sports jackets available!”
Livingston encouraged other owners of small businesses to utilize the EDC to resolve their business problems.
“We are here to help grow, expand and improve local businesses,” he said. “While we don’t give money away, we do have incentive grants, and we can help the business owners complete applications and meet criteria. “We also have resources and contacts that we can refer them to. My job is to help solve some of their problems.”
