County tax rates good news for Dallam, Hartley property owners

Good news for property owners came out of both County Commissioners’ meetings Monday.

Hartley County’s proposed tax rate for Fiscal Year 2024-25 has dropped slightly, from 40.65 cents per $100 of valuation to 38.4495 cents.

Dallam County’s proposed rate has remained the same as 2024 at 30.927 cents.

Frank Phillips College will maintain their tax rate of 3.6735 cents per $100 valuation for the third year in a row.

Hartley County also proposed a 5% salary increase for all county employees except Sheriff’s Deputies, who received 8% pay increases from Senate Bill 22 Grant funds earlier this year.

Dallam County employees are expected to receive a 3% Cost of Living Allowance increase for all employees except Sheriff’s Deputies, for the same reason. The county also raised longevity pay from $10 to $15 per month, to match what Hartley County pays.

Both counties and the college will hold public hearings for the proposed tax rates on Sept. 9. Hartley County’s will begin at 9:00 a.m., while Dallam County’s will start at 10:00 a.m.

Frank Phillips College will begin their meeting at 11:00 a.m.
