Riley Paige
Riley Paige came to Dalhart from Springfield, CO, five years ago. She attended Medical Assistant school in Amarillo and part of the program requirement was to submit her resume to Indeed, the employment website. She set the distance parameter at 100 miles from her hometown, which happened to include Dalhart.
“I often saw job posting for DHCHD and decided to take a leap of faith and give it a try,” she said. “It seems to have worked so far.”
In her time at Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District, Paige has worn many hats. These include lead medical care aide at Legacy Assisted Living Facility, office manager and mental health tech at Senior Care Solutions Behavioral Health, medical assistant at High Country Walk-In Clinic and, most recently, nurse aide on the Medical/Surgical floor at Coon Memorial Hospital.
“My favorite thing about my job is helping those during their worst day and helping make it a little better,” Paige said. “I’ve found it truly is the ‘little’ things that can make all the difference when someone is having a hard time!”
She said that her least favorite part is “not everybody gets to go home. Though home is always the goal destination when they finish their stay at the hospital, sometimes God’s plans are different.”
In her free time, Paige enjoys playing with her Australian shepherds, Darla and Bossy. She also likes going back to Colorado and visiting family, as well as trying new restaurants and attending concerts.
“I love that Dalhart welcomed me with open arms when I moved here from Colorado,” she said. “Every day I am given warmth, love and kindness wherever I go, and it truly is ‘one big family’.”
