Time marches on, so get parade entries in now
Friday is the deadline to enter the area’s largest annual parade. The 88th Annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion Parade will begin Saturday, Aug. 3 at 10:00 a.m., with staging starting at 8:30 a.m.
The theme for this year’s parade is “Time Marches On.”
Parade participants must submit an entry form on by 5:00 p.m. July 26. Forms are available on the XIT Rodeo website, xitrodeoreunion. com, and at the Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce, 102 E. 7th Street. For those with entries to be judged, please mark the “Yes” box on the entry form and enclose the $20 entry fee. Any entries received after the deadline will not be accepted.
Judging for entries will consider all entry types; commercial and non-commercial floats, antique cars and tractors, riding clubs, bands, and unpaid entertainment. Judged entries will be evaluated on creativity, exhibiting the theme, originality, appearance and use of music. All participants building floats are encouraged to create unique and creative entries to help us represent the tradition of the XIT Rodeo and Reunion as well as this year’s parade theme “Time marches on”.
Once entry forms are received, entry numbers will be assigned and can be picked up from the Chamber of Commerce on or before 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 2nd. For those unable to pick up their number from the Chamber office, numbers will be available on Saturday morning during the parade lineup.
Parade lineup will begin on Denver Ave. and will continue east on Texas Blvd.
A number of past XIT Rodeo & Reunion directors, all wearing white long-sleeved shirts, will be donating their time to get parade participants staged in their designated area.
Awards will be available for pick up at the Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce the week following the parade.
Please complete and return entry forms as early as possible.
The sooner forms are submitted, the smoother parade staging will go!
