ArchivesCocaine seized in Oldham County traffic stopCocaine seized in Oldham County traffic stopMore than 242 pounds of suspected cocaine were seized Saturday afternoon after a Texas Highway Patrol trooper stopped a vehicle in Oldham County. At approximately 1:49 on July 13, a DPS patrol officer stopped a 2020 Kia Sportage traveling east on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation. During the stop, officer discovered three large duffel bags containing 100 plastic-wrapped bricks of cocaine in the rear cargo area. DPS Criminal Investigation Division and Drug Enforcement Administration special agents were contacted and assisted with the investigation. DEA special agents adopted the case. The driver, Ezequiel Canela-Cabrera, 29, of Kissimmee, Florida, was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail for felony possession of a controlled substance. The drugs were reportedly being transported from Las Vegas, Nevada, to Boston, Massachusetts.
