Man Hurt In Cutting Affray

A stabbing affray, which seems to be in the nature of a family misunderstanding, took place early Monday morning at J. C. Hinds’, who lives on the old Stalcup farm about two miles out on the Stratford road.

The victim is Russell Knight, a son inlaw of Mr. Hinds, and the wounds were inflicted by Frank Hinds, a nephew of J. C. Hinds. Frank Hinds has been working for Mr. Hubbs and was on his way to Dalhart with Mr. Hubbs, when the fight took place.

They had stopped at the elder Mr. Hind’s place and the affray started almost immediately. The result of the encounter is that Mr. Knight is in the local Sanitarium with a severe wound in his abdomen caused by stab with pocket knife and Mr. Hinds came to town and gave himself up to the officers and is in the county jail charged with aggravated assault and the case will come up in the next term of county court. At this writing Mr. Hinds has not furnished bond.

Mr. Knight’s condition was considered very serious yesterday, but he is better today and has a chance to recover.
