Business is blooming for the Hartman family

“No one hates getting flowers!” This was one of Lisa Hartman’s primary reasons for buying Hartman Floral, located at 203 Denrock Avenue (formerly Little Shop of Flowers), on Dec. 28. “I’ve always thought how amazing having a flower shop would be,” added the Dalhart native.

She and her husband, Jared, were looking for a family business to invest in when this opportunity came open. “My parents owned A to Z Home Center,” she said. “I basically grew up there and helped run the business. My brother, Kalen Jurajdo, owns it now.” The Hartmans have six children between the ages of one and 17 and want the same experiences for Raleigh, Maggie, Anton, Sylvie, Rory and Coley, Lisa said. “The kids are very excited,” she continued. “Our 17-year-old daughter has already created an arrangement with a friend, and our son can’t wait to make one.”

The Hartmans plan to continue store hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am to noon on Saturday. They will feature floral arrangements, plants, balloons and gifts, with delivery available. “Right now, our focus is on offering more of the smaller, grab-and-go arrangements and more plants,” Lisa said. “When we first opened it was super-overwhelming, but we’re getting used to it now.” She said two things kept running through her mind when she learned that the floral shop was available for purchase. “I kept telling my husband, ‘We could do that! SHOULD we do that?” From the was orders are already rolling in, the answer is clearly, “Yes!”

Lisa was assisted at her grand opening on Jan. 12 by her sister-in-law, Lauren Jurajdo, owner of BAKED By Lauren. Her mother, Krista, will help at the shop on a regular basis, she said. Jared and his father, Patrick, also own Walking O Land and Cattle in Dalhart.
