ArchivesCity Council Pays Tribute to Team MembersCity Council Pays Tribute to Team MembersThe Dalhart City Council recognized three loyal employees during members’ regular meeting Monday evening. Mayor Justin Moore presented certificates to Josefina Chavira, Manuel Cruz, Jr. and Alec Martinez. Chavira was honored for 29 years of service to the Dalhart Police Department. Cruz received recognition for four years with the Water Department, where he is currently a foreman. Martinez just celebrated his first year with the Dalhart Police Department. In other business, council members approved the recommendations from the Planning and Zoning Commission and conducted the first reading of two rezoning ordinances. Ordinance 2023-14 would change The Headquarters U2, Tract 1, previously H&TC, Block 48, Section 56Y in the City of Dalhart, Hartley County (southwest corner of FM 281 and Hwy. 87) from Agriculture to Commercial for the purpose of Truck Sales and Service and Retail. Ordinance 2023-15 would rezone lots 11-13, Block 24, Blair Division, city of Dalhart, Dallam County (1420 Trinidad), from R-3 Residential to Special Use for the purpose of placing a Manufactured Home. The council also approved the request from the Veterans Day Committee to close Second Street from Rock Island Avenue to Denrock Avenue and Denrock Avenue from Second Street to Sixth Street for the Veterans Day Parade on Friday, Nov. 10. The parade begins at 10 a.m. with lineup at 9:00 a.m. There were no public comments at the meeting. The Dalhart City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 205 Rock Island Street. Meetings are open to the public.
