Demolition Derby coming to Dalhart in 2 weeks

The Dalhart Destruction Demolition Derby will be held at the XIT Rangers two weeks from today, Saturday September 23. Along with the main derby, there will also be a Lawn Mowers category and Power Wheels category.

The main derby is associated with the Championship Demolition Derby Association (CDDA) Bone Stock Point Series 80’s and Newer Rules. The entry fee is $75, and the payout is $1,350 for first place, $750 for second place, $550 for third, $450 for fourth, and $250 for fifth. There is also a Mad Dog that wins $750.

The entry fee for Lawn Mowers is $30, and the payout will be based on the number of participants. There are two classes for lawn mowers. Class A is for those ages 10-14 years, and Class B is for those ages 15 and up. Power Wheels is for kids ages 5-10, and the entry fee is $10, with the payout for that also being determined by the number of participants. The gates for the derby will open at 9 a.m. Tech will be held from 10 a.m.-1 p.m., and the derby itself will begin at 2 p.m. General admission for spectators is $10 per person.

The Dalhart Destruction Demolition Derby is being sponsored by MAS Trailers, United Supply, Alliance Irrigation, Rusty Pearl Boutique and North Texas Meter Service. Those wanting more information can call Sam at (719) 717- 0916.
