Step Up and Scale Down course begins Jan. 11 in Lubbock

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Lubbock County will offer the 12- week series, Step Up and Scale Down, beginning Jan. 11.

This hybrid course, which will be offered on Wednesdays from 12-1 p.m., will focus on educating participants on the steps and behaviors to implement in their everyday lives to move them towards a healthy weight, said Cory Edwards, AgriLife Extension family and community health agent for Lubbock County.

The class size is limited to 35 participants. Registration is requested by Jan. 6 at StepUpScaleLubbock.

Attending Step Up and Scale Down classes

The in-person classes will be at the AgriLife Extension office, 916 Main St., Suite 401, Lubbock. The cost for this course is $40, which will cover the cost of the food, program materials and weekly incentives. Payment will be taken at the first class.

The classes will alternate weekly between in-person and virtual via the Zoom platform. Classes will include weigh-ins, recipe demonstrations, a 20–30-minute lesson and group discussion, and a weekly challenge.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own healthy lunch to the in-person classes.
