Dallam, Hartley County 4-H’ers receive awards at Spring contests

District contests are held throughout the spring for 4-Hers in the top 22 counties of the Texas Panhandle. Big Fun in D1, District 1 4-H Roundup took place with a portion of the contests being held virtually with competitors submitting YouTube videos to be critiqued by judges. The onsite competition took place in Canyon, Texas with many of the contests being held on the campus of WTAMU in the Agricultural Sciences Complex. Forty-five 4-H members from Dallam and Hartley Counties participated in eight different competitions that took place during the virtual contests held earlier in the month and over the 3 days. Senior 4-Hers were competing to place in their categories vying for the opportunity to represent District 1 4-H at Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station in June. After conclusion of the contests, Dallam and Hartley Counties will be taking thirteen high school youth to Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station in June.

Nine 4-Hers from Dallam and Hartley Counties traveled to Pampa in late April to participate in the District 1 Archery Tournament. The 2 day indoor event was held at the Clyde Carruth Livestock Pavilion. The overall Senior Archer award was presented to Blair Dahl, Hartley County. Blaine Dahl received the overall Junior Archer award.
