Pate tabbed as Kelsie Watts June 4 opening act at La Rita

Staff report

After open auditions were held in early May for who would be the opening act for the Kelsie Watts concert at the La Rita Theatre, one person stood above the rest. Dalhartnative Aniston Pate will open for Watts before Kelsie takes the stage at the theatre on June 4. Watts is slated perform at 7 p.m.

Pate is known for her country music - a natural for Dalhart, “Where cowboys aren’t just a legend, they are alive and working.” She relies on her smalltown values and “Bless Your Heart” raising in both life and songwriting. Her music is natural, honest and about real life.

Aniston began pursuing music in 5th grade, and by 8th grade, she had her sights set on Belmont University in Nashville. Aniston was performing shows locally as a freshman and in her senior year she was accepted into Belmont’s School of Music as a Commercial Voice Major.

Since moving to Nashville, Aniston has been successful in both her college career and music endeavors. Her shows are a combination of cover sand originals that keep the crowd impressed and entertained.

Kelsie Watts was born in Texas, and grew up singing in the church with her musically talented parents. It was her parents, who after hearing her sing at the young age of two, encouraged her to continue mastering her craft. Kelsie developed her powerhouse vocals not only in church choir but by getting cast in leads roles in her school plays along with being in All State Choir while growing up in Lubbock. She then went on to study opera, vocal performance and commercial music at Belmont University in Nashville. Kelsie is trained to sing everything from Opera to Musical Theater, but you will always find her working on her craft; writing and creating her first love, Pop Music.

In 2020 the emerging artist, received her first big break when asked to be the featured vocalist on Backstreet Boys AJ McLean’s single “Hurts to Love You” released under McLean’s ATCK venture. After the release of “Hurts To Love You”, Kelsie auditioned for Season 19 of NBC’s Hit Show The Voice. Her blind audition immediately went viral when she shocked the judges with her version of Kelly Clarkson’s “I Dare You” Kelsie’s blind audition secured her a spot on Team Kelly and has gained well over 4million views on you tube.
