15 Dalhart High FFA students competed at the Amarillo District LDE (Leadership Development Events) competition on Wednesday November 10 in Borger on the campus of Frank Phillips College.

FFA areas and districts are different from the UIL regions and districts that are used for sports and academic competitions, and an FFA area and district will include schools of all sizes, from UIL 1A- 6A. There are 12 total areas in Texas, and they are divided up based on population. Dalhart is in Area I, which covers the entire Texas Panhandle and extends down to a little south of Lubbock.

Area I is divided into six districts. Dalhart is in the Amarillo District, which also includes Texline, Hartley, Channing, Stratford, Amarillo, Borger, Stinnett, Canyon, and others in the northwestern part of the Panhandle. The northeastern part of the Panhandle is the Top O’ Texas District, which includes Sunray, Gruver, Pampa, Perryton, and Canadian to name a few. The other four districts are the Greenbelt, Littlefield, Lubbock and Plainview Districts.
The Senior Chapter Conducting Team advanced to the Area LDE Competition, which was held on Saturday November 20 at West Texas A&M University in Canyon. The top two teams will advance to State, which will be held on December 3 and December 4. The results of Area were not known at press time.
