5th annual Pumpkins for Patients raises over $19,000

The Twilight Cancer Fund held its 5th Annual Pumpkins for Patients fundraising event on Thursday September 30 at B. Whimsy, with lunch served at The Lonestar Shops.

Over 80 decorated pumpkins were sold, and they also served lunch for approximately 100 people. A total of $19,130 was raised at the event. 100% of the funds raised go directly back into the Dalhart community for individuals battling cancer. The board members of the fund are grateful to the community of Dalhart that entrusts The Twilight Cancer Fund with their hard earned dollars and charitable giving.

The Twilight Fund was founded in October 2012 by Dalhart residents Jay and Michelle Peeples, with the vision to support community members fighting cancer and to ease the financial burden involved. The Twilight Fund is supported by the generous gifts of local individuals and businesses in Dalhart and others.

In return, the Twilight Fund has so far provided financial support to over 175 local residents in excess of $185,000. The Twilight Fund continues to serve individuals in Dalhart and is dedicated to continue the work that began upon learning of Michelle’s own cancer diagnosis.

In honoring founder Michelle Peeples, who passed on December 15, 2013, and the many others who have battled cancer, the board members of the Twilight Fund wanted to take this opportunity to thank all those who have given their support. In particular, they wanted to give a special thanks to all of the generous supporters and donors who made this event possible, including Lusk Pumpkin, X10 in Texas, Denise’s Sweet Treats, Gergen Irrigation and B. Whimsy.

The Twilight Fund accepts donations throughout the year by various fund-raising efforts and private donations, and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. The board members include Jay and Natalie Peeples, Donna Gaddy, Jennifer Gergen, Tammy Schniederjan, Selene Schumacher and Kelly Whitcavitch.

The Twilight Fund board is looking forward to celebrating the 10th anniversary of The Twilight Fund next year and plans on hosting Pumpkins for Patients again.
