With many businesses in Dallam and Hartley Counties needing additional employees, the Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of setting up a combination job fair/street festival next week on Thursday September 16 in downtown Dalhart.
The job fair/street festival will be called “Meet on the Street.” It will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until 8 p.m., and will be held on Denrock Avenue, with part of the
street blocked off to traffic for the event. Booths will be available for businesses that want to talk to prospective employees, and bounce houses will also be set up for kids to play in while their parents talk to employers.
The job fair will provide a casual environment for those seeking a new job. Full-time positions with different businesses will be available at the job fair, and job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and to be prepared for interviews that evening.
Nine different employers have already signed up for booths at the job fair. They include JBS Pork, Five Rivers Cattle Feeding, Larsen Farms, Mixer Center, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Dallam Hartley Counties Hospital District, Hilmar Cheese Company, Scott Power & Equipment and XIT Concrete.
With the “Meet on the Street” event still over a week away, employers still have time to sign up for booth space at the job fair. Anyone interested in signing up for a booth can call the chamber office at (806) 244-5646.
