Local businesses present XIT plans to Rotary Club

By Bill Kelly

THE DALHART TEXAN

Some members of the local business community talked to the Dalhart Rotary Club at the luncheon on Thursday July 15 about their plans and promotions for the weekend of the XIT Rodeo & Reunion.

Pamela Yoder of Vingo Vineyards Winery told those in attendance that the winery was planning to offer meals on the evenings of Thursday August 5 and Friday August 6 from 5-7 p.m. She also said that she would recommend that anyone interested in dining at the winery on those nights should call in advance and make reservations. They are timing their meals so that those who want to attend this year’s melodrama at the La Rita Theatre will be able to eat before the show.

The meals at Vingo will be catered by Justin Banister of Just-In Backyard BBQ & Catering. Banister told the Rotary Club members about his new mobile food trailer, which will be operating during XIT weekend and will be used for the meals at Vingo. The meals will be served outdoors.

Lacynda Hunter of The Flying Pig Mercantile Coffee & Tea Bar informed the Rotary Club that the business is fully staffed and will have the coffee and tea bar open from 7 a.m.-5:30 p.m. on both Thursday and Friday of XIT weekend. Hunter added that they plan to close about 3 p.m. on Saturday August 7 so that their employees and everyone else can make it to the free barbecue that afternoon.

Kay Rogers of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office discussed this year’s XIT Arts & Crafts Show. She told the Rotary Club that more than 20 different vendors will have booths at the 7th Street Park (also known as Veterans Memorial Park) on Saturday August 7, using the trees in the park for shade. They expect approximately 6,000 shoppers to go through the fair during the day.

Joyce Bezner said that the Rotary Club members appreciated these business people taking the time to come to the meeting and sharing their plans for XIT weekend.
