Lake center holds grand opening

The Rita Blanca Lake Center held a grand opening on Saturday, June 5. The opening began at noon and continued throughout the afternoon.

The grand opening included hamburgers and hot dogs that were served to everyone who came out for the event. There were also several activities available for families. The Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department set up two different water polo lines, a smaller one for younger kids and a longer line for older kids and adults. There was also an inflatable water slide available for kids and water balloons. Horseshoe pits and cornhole games were also set up forthose who wanted to play.

The lake center will be open from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday during the summer, and will also be open from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays. There are a large number of games available inside the center for kids and families to play, including ping pong, shuffleboard, and giant Jenga along with various board games. There are also bicycles, fishing poles and tackle, and golf discs among other items that can be checked out simply by leaving some form of identification. The ID will be returned when the item is returned. ID also has to be left to check out the games in the building. There are also some swings and a few other pieces of playground equipment available near the lake center
