More than 150 compete in disc golf tournament

A total of 155 competitors took part in the Top of Texas Disc Golf Dalhart Dustbowl tournament over the weekend in Dalhart. The tournament featured three touring disc golf professionals. Several local residents competed in the tournament. Jeremy McMorris, age 15, competed placed sixth in the Open Division; Jordan Evans placed second in the Amateur 40 Plus Division; Larry Aragon won the Amateur 50 Plus Division; and Chris Conner tied for fourth in the Recreational Division.

Professional disc golf athlete Jay “Yeti” Reading gave a clinic on Friday evening. He is a world disc golf champion and putter champion. He placed first in the Pro Masters 40 Plus Division. World champion disc golf athlete Mitch McClellan came in first in the Pro Masters 50 Plus Division. 

The top five in the Open Division were Connor Hanrahan with 18 under par, Chandler Kramer with 16 under par, Noah Baker with 15 under par, G.T. Hancock with 15 under par, and Michael Arauza with 14 under par. McMorris placed sixth with 12under par.

In the Women’s Open Division, Maria Olivia placed first with 11 over par, Madelynn Davis placed second with 26 over par, Jenny Munn placed third with 28 over par, and Maria Coca placed fourth with 29 over par. In the Pro Master’s 40 Plus Division, Reading placed first at 17 under par, and Chris Lee placed second with six under par. In the Pro Master’s 50 Plus Dision, McClellan placed first with nine under par, Kyle Norrid place third with seven under par, and Rocky Lawless took third with 12 over par.
