Duck, dive, dodge with DCA

Dalhart Christian Academy hosted their third annual dodge ball tournament Sunday afternoon at the ROC at First Baptist Church. In previous years, this has served as a fundraiser for their junior high students to take a class trip over the summer months. This year, the funds will split to benefit two local families through the Rusty Hancock Memorial and Team Jeremiah Bell. Hancock passed away in February. He was the pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church and a representative on the Dalhart City Council and served the community in many other boards and organizations. Bell is the son of Chiz and Misti Bell, and he was recently diagnosed with cancer. He is a pre-kindergarten student at DCA. In addition to the tournament, lunch was served. An anonymous donor provided the food for the lunch, and the proceeds also benefited the two local families. The Escapees team (above) won the contest for best costume. Additional photos from the event can be found on page 10.
