The 80th Annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion ended on a high note as Stoney LaRue played at Saturday’s rodeo dance.
LaRue, who was born in Taft, Texas, before his family eventually moved to southeastern Oklahoma, is considered to be a prime example of Red Dirt Country. His music is a mixture of country and heartland rock with a dash of blues thrown in.

LaRue took a little time out of his day to give an interview to The Dalhart Texan last Friday afternoon. LaRue has been to the panhandle area many times in the past 15 years. He said that he has been to Midnight Rodeo in Amarillo, and has been to Lubbock and other area towns as well. LaRue said that he plays around 200-230
dates per year, and has been to Alaska and the Caribbean in addition to doing concerts throughout the lower 48 states.
