Acts Of Kindness, Grant Help Local Student Receive New Wheelchair

Dalhart’s Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks is perhaps best known for its lounge atmosphere and entertainment events. But the acts of kindness and investments made in the community and local heroes are what they strive to be more commonly recognized as.

A recent act of kindness from the Elks, with help from Dalhart Independent School District nurse Gloria Shepherd, has rolled up to positively impact a local student.

Sharon Valadez, a sophomore at Dalhart High School, was the recipient of a brand new wheelchair four years ago and another one this year, courtesy of donations made from the Elks.
