ArchivesNavigating The Construction Zone: TxDOT Releases Alternate RouteBy IVY HOLLINGSWORTH The Texas Department of Transportation held a meeting with the Dalhart underpass project contractor Monday afternoon to discuss the current construction projects and the need for alternate traffic routes. Currently, asphalt pavement is being removed south of US 54 on the Northbound lanes of US 87. Additionally, the underpass on Denrock has been closed for removal and excavation of the retainage pond. Drivers can expect delays while traveling through Dalhart until the completion of the project. “The project has a completion schedule of 443 days and we are at 437, ”TxDOT spokesman Paul Braun said. “With the upcoming Easter weekend, holiday traffic is anticipated to be very heavy. ”TxDOT has created alternative routes that will assist in reducing traffic and congestion.
