ArchivesFatality Reported On Highway 54By IVY HOLLINGSWORTH A semi rollover that resulted in a fatality was reported early Saturday morning east of Dalhart on Highway 54. According to a statement from Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Cindy Barkley, at approximately 6:50 a.m., Donovan Ross, 29, of Jacksonville, Fla., was driving a 2016 Freightliner Truck Tractor towing a 2008 Wabash trailer Northeast on US highway 54 approximately 13 miles southwest of Dalhart. Ross reportedly fell asleep while driving and the truck tractor left the roadway. When Ross awoke, he overcorrected and lost control of the truck tractor and trailer. The truck tractor and trailer rolled over causing the death of the unrestrained passenger identified as Tarus Johnson, 42, of Lake Wells, Fla.
