The City of Dalhart recentlyreceived a lot of questions aboutwhat is required to have a legal homeoccupation. Here are some answers, aslisted in the city’s code of ordinances.

Sec. 17-10 Land use definitionsand explanations/ Residential uses /Accessory & Incidental Uses: (17)Home Occupation. A home occupationis an occupation carried on in theoccupant’s home by a member ofthe occupant’s family, without theemployment of additional personsand without offering any commodityfor sale to the general public on thepremises without keeping of stockfor trade, and without the storage ofsupplies and equipment and with onlythe use of a nameplate to identify theoccupation.
