The Panhandle Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts (PASWCDS) will meet August 17, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Dalhart XIT Rangers Hall in Dalhart. David Ahlem, Site Manager of the Hilmar Cheese Company located in Dalhart will be the featured speaker at the meeting. Hilmar Cheese Company specializes in the production of cheddar and American cheese utilized by private label and national brand, retail and foodservice companies across America. The state-of-the-art cheese and whey protein plant in Dalhart processes more than 500,000 gallons of milk each day. Ahlem will speak to the conservation district direct ... Registration for M.A.G.I.C. after school program will be held Tuesday, August 17th from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. A non refundable registration fee is due at the time of enrollment. DES Back to school night and fall parent involvement meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night, August 19. There will be an opportunity to meet your child’s teacher, visit the classrooms and bring school supplies. Parents can also fill out information needed for the lunch program and lunch tickets may be purchased also at this time. The school nurse will have up-to-date immunization information. Parents can also join PTA. This is also the Fall Title I meeting for DES. All parents will be given a copy of the Title I School/ Parent Compact that explains all DES programs and services. Dalhart Elementary ... Students age 3-4 years applying for the Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten programs and new students to DES can register Monday thru Thursday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. beginning August 2, 2010. You need to bring the student’s shot record, birth certificate and social security number. Proof of income is needed for registration for the Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start programs. Notification that your student has met qualifications for the Pre-Kindergarten and Head Start programs will not be until the week before school starts. All returning DES students will get paperwork on Back to School Night, August 19. |

ETTER -- Alfalfa producers can update their alfalfa production expertise at an upcoming production workshop on Aug. 20 at the North Plains Research Field near Etter. The workshop is sponsored by Texas AgriLife Extension Service, and begins with registration at 9:00 a.m. and the program will conclude by 12:30 p.m. The research field is located about 9 miles north of Dumas, then one-half mile east or about 2 miles south of Etter, then one-half mile east. Dalhart XIT Rangers will have a Play Day on Saturday, August 21. Books open at 4:30 p.m. start at 6:00 p.m. July make-up Play day is on August, 28 at XIT Rangers Arena. Also the Dalhart XIT Rangers will have their monthly Pot Luck Supper on August 23 at the XIT Clubhouse. |
