Community Connect classes beginning this week will cover things technical to artistic technique, in classes exploring Microsoft Excel to the arts of knitting, drawing and papier mache. Ashley Thomas, Dallam Hartley County Agri-life Extension Office Manager, who has taught several Community Connect computer classes, on October 5 and 6 will help students master Microsoft Excel. The class meets both evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 pm. DHS Art Teacher Tammy Douglas will lead a “Basic Drawing” class. Students will meet for six weeks beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm. The class is open to students ... The PSAT measures skills important for college success and provides students with the tools they need to start planning for the future. Each year, millions of students worldwide take the PSAT to enter scholarship competitions, prepare for the SAT, and gain access to valuable college and career planning tools. National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses the PSAT as an initial screen of entrants in its annual academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Did you know Wednesday at the Dalhart Senior Center is bring a friend day? If you are a member of the Dalhart Senior Center and bring a friend on Wednesdays, they too can eat for a price. On Wednesday, October 7 Dalhart Jr. High will have an early release day. All students will be dismissed to go home at 1:00 p.m. Parents may come beginning at 2:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. to pick up their student’s report card and meet their student’s teachers. Conferences for longer meetings with their respective teachers may be setup at this time. Dalhart Jr. High is a Title 1 school and there will be a brief discussion about what that means. Our goal for this day is for parents to be more informed about the teacher’s expectations and plan for their student’s success. We know that the more positive involvement a parent has in ... The Dalhart Senior Citizens Association, Inc. will be holding special election on Friday, October 9th, 2009 between the hours of: 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. A voting box will be set out and members may come and vote during these hours or during the lunch hour. Voting is to be held for Kristine Olsen, vote yes or no to fill the current empty board member position. Saturday, October 10 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at United Supermarket. This is a Canned Food Drive and 4-H Promotional Event. Please drop by United during these hours on October 10, purchase some cans of food and drop them off at the 4-H table at the front of the store. All cans of food will go to our local Good Samaritan. Rushing Wind Emmaus community will meet Saturday, October 10, at 6:00 p.m. at the Waka Christian Center. A potluck meal will be served followed by sponsors training and a praise and worship service. Friends and families are welcome and a nursery will be provided. RW will sponsor a men’s “Walk to Emmaus” weekend on October 22-25 at the WCC. |
