The Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Dalhart would like to invite all area Fiddle Players to the 15th Annual “Just Fiddlin’ Around” Contest. The Fiddler’s Contest will be held at the 7th Street Veterans Memorial Park following the XIT Rodeo & Reunion Parade on Saturday, August 7. There is no entry fee and cash prizes will be awarded in Youth, Junior & Adult divisions. Contestants are asked to play 2 tunes of their choice and 1 waltz. The 33rd Annual Joe Nisbett XIT 5-K & 1 Mile Fun Run “Walk Across Texas” will be on Saturday, August 7, 2010. The 1 Mile Fun Run & Walk Across Texas will begin at 7:00 a.m. The 5-K Run will begin at 7:30 a.m. The location is at The Rita Blanca West Picnic Pavilion Park. The Dallam County 4-H Parent Leaders Association will host its annual Arts & Crafts Show on Friday, August 6 and Saturday, August 7 during the 74th Annual XIT Rodeo & Reunion at the Rita Blanca Pavilion, west of the rodeo grounds on FM 281. Join in the fun beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Booths include children’s clothes, quilts, jewelry, arts, home décor and much, much more! Come out and shop to support the Dallam County 4-H’ers at the 17th Annual Dallam 4-H Arts & Crafts Show. Come and enjoy a burrito or two made with brisket, potatoes, cheese and hot or mild and help the Guy Winters family in their time of need. Guy, owner of 777 Rodeo Co. was bucked off of a horse, resulting in a broken neck. He walked around for three weeks before discovering he was in critical condition and requiring surgery on his neck. Now, his friends and family are throwing the Guy Winters Benefit on Saturday, August 7 from 9:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. during the XIT Rodeo Dance at the Rita Blanca Coliseum. Donations are requested. Also as a way to raise money to help the Winters, a Designated Driver will be available to provide rides from ... The City of Dalhart’s Landfill will be closed Saturday, August 7 so our employees can enjoy the XIT celebration. The landfill will be re-opened Monday, August 9 for regular business. West Texas Outlaws Off-Road Club Presents in conjunction with XIT Rodeo and Reunion The14th Annual XIT MUD BOG The XIT Mud Bog will be at the Lake Road Saturday, August 7, 2010 in Dalhart. All proceeds go to Dalhart Youth Organization. A drivers meeting will be at 11:30 a.m. Racing starts at 12:00 p.m. There will be an entry fee, this is for two runs.
