Community Connect classes beginning this week will cover things technical to artistic technique, in classes exploring Microsoft Excel to the arts of knitting, drawing and papier mache. Ashley Thomas, Dallam Hartley County Agri-life Extension Office Manager, who has taught several Community Connect computer classes, on October 5 and 6 will help students master Microsoft Excel. The class meets both evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 pm. DHS Art Teacher Tammy Douglas will lead a “Basic Drawing” class. Students will meet for six weeks beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 pm. The class is open to students ... The PSAT measures skills important for college success and provides students with the tools they need to start planning for the future. Each year, millions of students worldwide take the PSAT to enter scholarship competitions, prepare for the SAT, and gain access to valuable college and career planning tools. National Merit Scholarship Corporation uses the PSAT as an initial screen of entrants in its annual academic competition for recognition and college scholarships. Cub Scout Boys will be going out as a group on Monday Oct. 5th to sell popcorn. If anyone would like for us to come by their house we can do that. Please call 333-2338. We do have new popcorn this year. It also helps some of the boys with scholarships. Open Arms Therapy invites horse lovers to support the organization through a raffle. Tickets are on sale now and up until the raffle which will be held on Halloween. An oil painting by a local artist will be raffled and all proceeds will benefit OAT’s therapeutic riding program.
