Roughly 90 students in kindergarten through fifth grade participated in the Jump Rope for Heart, Tuesday in Channing. The students raised approximately $2,500 in the annual fundraiser.

School board selects May 7 election judges

The DISD Board met on Tuesday night, February 23.

Election judges for the TrusteeElection on May 7 were appointed. Joan Cumming is judge, and Edna Keel will be the alternate. Early Voting Ballot Board is Joan Cumming with Thad Lasater as alternate.

PRPC board approves grant management

During the Panhandle Regional Planning Commission (PRPC) board meeting on Thursday, February 25, are port was given on a request from Hartley County regarding their applicationfor a Texas Capital Fund (TCF) grant in 2015 to improve roads serving Natural Prairie Dairy Farms in the County.

The polls are open today in the presidential and state primary elections, as well as three local elections in Dallam County.

The Dalhart City Council met in two meetings on Tuesday night, February 23. The first meeting was the regular council meeting at 6 p.m. The second meeting was at 7 p.m. with the Economic Development Committee (EDC) to discuss property at the airport.

The Dallam County Commissioners met in a special meeting Monday morning to consider a burn ban. A burn ban is currently in place for both Dallam and Hartley Counties, taking effect Wednesday of last week. The commissioners voted to extend the ban until March 14, which is also the irregular meeting date. Judge Wes Ritchey they would discuss this again at that meeting.
