The Dalhart Independent School Board has two places up for election in the May 8th election. Elected board trustees serve three-year terms and attend monthly meetings year round, special meetings as needed, and an annual conference.
Candidates for school board trustee must be 18 years of age or older, a U. S. citizen, a qualified voter with no felony convictions, a resident of the State of Texas for at least one year and domiciled within the school district for the preceding six months from the last available day to file for a place on the ballot.
Applications are available beginning February 6th and through March 8th. Any interest person may pick up paperwork from the DISD Administration building located at 701 E. 10th Street during regular business hours.
The DISD board trustees have the responsibility of hiring the DISD Superintendent, making policy, approving the annual budget and all other business related to the district. Members of the board come from all walks of life with all types of educational and work experience. Any qualified individual with a strong desire to lend their time and talent to the district is encouraged to run in the election.
Early voting for the school board election will run from April 26th through May 4th at the DISD Administration building. The election is scheduled for Saturday, May 8th, at City Hall located at 205 Rock Island.
