On Tuesday, July 14th, KXIT Radio personality, Jesse Torres, broadcast live from XIT Ford on Highway 54 East.  The 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. program featured interviews with the 2009 XIT Rodeo & Reunion Queen candidates.  The show also featured an interview with Rhonda McMillen of XIT Ford about a dealership event that benefits the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

On display at XIT Ford was the saddle that will be awarded to the newly crowned 2009 XIT Rodeo & Reunion Queen.  The crowing will occur at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th.  Joe D. Brand of Dalhart Consumers presented this year’s saddle to XIT Rodeo & Reunion Director Andrew Banks.  Brand was at the event on Tuesday to meet the contestants and present the saddle.  This year’s saddle is a Billy Cook saddle from Jr. Gray Saddle Shop.  Both contestants, Jamie Coleen Frazier and Rebecca Richardson, arrived at XIT Ford in style in the XIT Rodeo & Reunion Limousine and had the opportunity to see the saddle for the first time during the hour-long event.

Along with the saddle, the 2009 XIT Rodeo & Reunion Queen will receive a necklace and bracelet donated by Duncan & Boyd Jewelers of Amarillo, a hatband crown and a $500 scholarship from the XIT Rodeo & Reunion Board of Directors.  The sash that the 2009 XIT Rodeo & Reunion Queen will wear throughout her one-year tenure was made this year by Ellza Pollard and was also on display at XIT Ford along with the saddle.

The 73rd XIT Rodeo & Reunion is schedule for August 6, 7 and 8.  Each queen contestant will attend an interview on August 6th, and also demonstrate their horsemanship abilities.  Fifty percent of the overall score received by each contestant is calculated from how well they demonstrate their ability to handle their horse.   Ms. Frazier is an active member of the U.S. Team Roping Association, AQHA and Subdebs.  Ms. Richardson lives on the Pacheco Ranch in New Mexico, where she assists with working cattle, training horses and enjoys running barrels and riding broncs at ranch rodeo.
